RHINESHINE
Zone
Quartzworld
Height
4'9"
Appearance
Rhineshine is a medium-sized denizen with three pointy metallic legs and a hollow crystalline body. Its body is divided into two main segments connected by two shiny round white eyes. The lower segment is where the legs connect and has a boxy shape like a squished hexagon. The top segment is shorter and shaped like a trapezoidal pyramid.
Lifecycle
As a post-metamorphosis denizen, Rhineshine does not spawn. Instead, it will metamorphosize from Quartzlet when under the correct conditions. Rhineshine will eventually metaphorize again into Terrostone, once enough time has passed and the correct conditions are met. Its metamorphosis can be recognized by the appearance of holes in its sides allowing for new legs to slot through and the retraction of one of its old legs into its primary body chasm in order to support further expansion of its body.
Habitat
Rhineshine are found throughout Quartzworld. They are the only members of their metamorphic line to tolerate water and have been observed to willingly fully submerge themselves to traverse deeper pools. Their longer legs give them the ability to navigate more difficult terrain, allowing them to appear nearly anywhere in the zone.
Behavior
As opposed to Quartzlet's aimless wanderings, Rhineshine typically stake out a specific area to patrol. The patrols consist of walking a specific memorized path throughout the zone, with occasional pauses to adjust the placement of loose quartz crystals based on an unknown criteria. Rhineshine are not hostile or defensive of these territories, though they may end up repositioning smaller Quartzworld denizens, as if mistaking them for stray crystals.
